Around Kraton Kasunanan Surakarta

Kraton Kasunanan Surakarta is surrounded by kampongs that have a special feature: almost all of them depict the architecture of Javanese, Colonial, or a combination of them. Some houses have been restored, but the restoration didn't change the concept of mixed Javanese-Colonial. Two pictures above are just examples of some corners in one of the kampongs. Come and see yourself the uniqueness of the houses as well as the pathways surrounding them. They will bring you back to the time before Indonesia has gained it's independence, when the life of classic Javanese kingdoms still lived.
