Mendut Temple on Cloudy Day
Assalaamu'alaikum, wonderful people. This is another late post. It is about a place called Mendut Temple not far from Borobudur Temple, Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. I visited the temple on a cloudy weekend. It was by the end of the pandemic.
Basically, Mendut is another buddhist temple which currently is still used for religious events and purposes. Even, Indonesian Buddhists include this temple in the series of places for pilgrimage when they celebrate Vesak Day. So, Buddhists started the ritual at this temple, then continue the activity by going on a pilgrimage to Borobudur Temple. Borobudur-Mendut creates an imaginary straight pilgrimage line.
That day, although it was cloudy, some people also visiting the temple. Some of them looked like groups of Buddhists who were going to pray, and some others were just visitors like me.
Even though cloudy, I could photograph some scenic shots of the temple. But don't compare them to those taken by a professional photographer or with a real camera of any kind, or even an iPhone.
These shots show us a glimpse of the temple and the whole complex. Come and visit when you have the time to visit Magelang and Borobudur.
