Mendut Temple on Cloudy Day
Assalaamu'alaikum, wonderful people. This is another late post. It's about a place called Mendut Temple, which is not far from Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. I visited the temple on a cloudy weekend, just at the end of the pandemic.
Basically, Mendut is another Buddhist temple that is still used for religious events and purposes. Indonesian Buddhists even include this temple in their series of pilgrimage sites when they celebrate Vesak Day. They start the rituals at this temple and then continue the activity by going on a pilgrimage to Borobudur Temple. The Borobudur-Mendut route creates an imaginary straight pilgrimage line.
That day, although it was cloudy, some people were also visiting the temple. Some of them looked like groups of Buddhists who were going to pray, while others were just visitors like me.
Even though it was cloudy, I managed to capture some snapshots of the temple. But don't compare them to those taken by a professional photographer or with a real camera of any kind, or even an iPhone.
These shots give us a glimpse of the temple and the entire compound. Come and visit when you have the time to explore Magelang and Borobudur.
