Wisdom Park: UGM's (Public) Park

Assalaamu'alaikum, wonderful people. Weekend almost ends, but are you enjoying it? Do you enjoy going to parks as much as I do? Do you live in Jogja? If you do, which public park in Jogja do you like to go to, as to my understanding, there is none in the city?

BTW, FYI, Jogja does not have public parks. There are some 'embung' which may function as public space. However, I personally disagree on calling them 'parks' as they do not have as many trees as plants as a 'real' park does.

Nevertheless, there are at least two universities in Jogja whose campus has a park. They are Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY). This post highlights the one owned by UGM that is called Wisdom Park.

Wisdom park is very large and green. It has a lot of shady tropical trees and pretty ornamental plants.

The north part, the larger one, has a lake which is surrounded by a jogging track. There is also an observation deck at the north end from which you can enjoy the view around the lake. A floating deck lays at the south end. At the northeast part, there is a raised walking track from which you can have a better view point around the lake. And at the northwest, there is such a big bird (or butterfly, I don't know for sure) aviary.

At the middle part, there lay an amphitheater overlooking a small stream, a softball field, two tennis outdoor courts, badminton indoor courts, an indoor gym, the parking lot, and a cafe. Then, on the south part, there is a stream stretching from the north to the south surrounded bg a jogging track and lush greenery. At some points, there are benches.

Don't you think Wisdom Park more a public park than a campus one? If you're a newbie to live in Jogja and want an outdoor hangout, visit Wisdom Park. It's open to public.
